Can anyone use a tanning booth or sunbed?

No. We do not allow persons under the age of 18 years to use our tanning booths or sunbed.  It should also not be used if you have any skin lesions or open wounds or if you have had skin cancer or have a family history of skin cancer.  We also recommend that you have your skin evaluated by a health care professional or skin specialist if you repeatedly expose your skin to UV radiation.

What is UV tanning?

Our sunbed lamps and tanning booths simulate the sun and emit UVA and UVB (ultra-violet) light.   Whereas no-one can control the UV ray output from the sun, our sunbed and stand-up tanning booths emit a balance of UV light to minimise the risk of burning and maximise the tanning.

How long should I spend in the tanning booth?

It is important to build up your tan slowly so you may only require a few minutes of tanning initially, slowly building up to longer periods.  Talk to our tanning specialists who can advise you on the best course of action for your skin type.

What should I wear for my tanning session?

That is entirely up to you.  Some people prefer to wear their bikini or their bikini bottoms or swimming trunks.  Whatever you decide, make sure you wear the safety goggles provided and protect any sensitive areas.

Can I wear deodorant during my tanning session?

Avoid wearing make-up, deodorant and perfume or after-shave during your tanning session.

Which is better?  Tanning booth or sunbed?

A tanning bed is horizontal so you can relax and lie inside it.  A tanning booth is vertical so you need to stand during your treatment.  A tanning booth is better for all-over tanning so you have no tan lines from creases in your skin that you get from a tanning bed.
